Cebu Pacific Air was designated, by Malacanang Palace, as Philippine's second flag carrier offering online booking of flights around asia.

It is a low cost airline based in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines and whose hubs are located in Ninoy Aquino International Airport NAIA Terminal 3 in Manila, Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Cebu, Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao, and Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.

It was designated by IATA as 5J that's why flights are named as 5J-382 or 5J-381.

Today, it is the leading domestic carrier in the Philippines with slogans: "The On Time, Great Value Airline" and/or "It's time everyone flies!".

History

Cebu Pacific Air was established in August 26, 1988 but started its operations in March 8, 1996 as Cebu Air who pioneered the low fare, great value strategy.

It is a subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. of John Gokongwei, Jr. (Chairman Emeritus), Ricardo J. Romulo (Chairman), and Lance Gokongwei (President and CEO).

It is controlled by one of the Philippines' richest Chinese families, the Gokongwei-Family.

It started its domestic passenger and cargo air transportation business on August 24, 1995 which later received ISO 9002 certification in November 1999.

On January 2010, it served its 40 millionth passenger while facing a possible lawsuit from Mylene Alcantara after she was alledgely mistreated by Cebu Pacific Air personnel regarding limitation of only two (2) special child allowed to board the plane. Special Child and Cebu Pacific Air
