One Piece Episode 2 – “Enter the Great Swordsman! Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro!”

Luffy and Coby arrive at an island with a large Navy base. In the town, they notice that at the mere mention of the names “Roronoa Zoro” or “Captain Morgan”, the townspeople are thrown into a panic. At the Navy base, Luffy impetuously climbs the wall and finds Zoro tied to a pole. A little girl named Rika climbs over and offers the starving Zoro some rice balls that she made herself. The foppish, snobbish Helmeppo, son of Captain Morgan, arrives accompanied by several Navy soldiers. He eats one of Rika’s rice balls finds it disgusting, stomps on them and has her thrown out. After he is gone, Luffy asks Zoro to join his crew. Zoro refuses that as well as any help escaping as he plans on surviving to spite Helmeppo. He then eats the flattened rice balls. Luffy and Coby meet Rika in town, who is happy to that Zoro enjoyed the rice balls. She tells them how Helmeppo brought his vicious pet dog into their bar and that Zoro knocked it out to protect everyone inside. He then made a deal with Helmeppo: if he can survive being tied to a pole with no food or water for thirty days, then Helmeppo will spare the people in the bar. Back in the bar, Helmeppo says that he will execute Zoro the next day despite his word. Luffy punches him, and Helmeppo runs off to tell his father. While Luffy invades the Navy base to find Zoro’s swords, Coby attempts to untie Zoro and explains the situation to him. Captain Morgan and his soldiers surround Zoro and Coby, and Morgan orders that they are both to be executed. The soldiers open fire, however, before the bullets can reach them, Luffy leaps from the Navy base and uses his rubber body to block the bullets. (source)
