FIFA World Cup Group D Match Highlights
Group D is composed of Germany, Ghana, Serbia, and Australia. All teams are fighting for a place in the last 6 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Germany started with an emphatic win against Australia as a goal barrage came from different players. Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Mueller, and Cacau all scored for the Germans. Podolski was voted as Man of the Match.
Asamoah Gyan scored a late penalty to give his team the a well-deserved 3 points.
Milan Jovanovic first-half goal punished the 10-man german team who lost Miroslav Klose to a red card and Lukas Podolski missing a penalty shot. Serbian Goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic was awarded the Man of the Match.
Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan and Australia’s Brett Holman both scored for their national teams. The 10-man Australia held Ghana to a draw after Harry Kewell sent off in Rustenburg.
Germany won Group D after edging Ghana in their last match of the Group Stage. Brothers Kevin Prince Boateng and Jerome Boateng played against each other. But Jerome’s German side won through a Mesut Oezil goal. Eventually, both teams are through to the Knockout Stage of the Tournament.
Australia and Serbia were both eliminated in Group D even if the Australians won their last match. Goals from Tim Cahill and Brett Holman put the Aussies atop Serbia in the Group. On the other hand, Serbian Marko Pantelic scored an 89th minute goal to make it: Australia 2 – 1 Serbia.
