UPLB SystemOne Portal: Universities goes online.

The summer days are almost over. Parents, Students, Teachers, Professors, and other employees of several universities in the country are now preparing as another school year is approaching.

And a week ago, the filipino people witnessed technology unfolding during the May 10 National Elections. We learned how these high tech systems change the way we select a new public servant and the way news is being delivered on TV.

Now, we will be checking how Philippine academic institutions, specially universities, use technology during enrollment. And after a short research, we found several systems such as the OSES of Far Eastern University-East Asia College (FEU-EAC), Online Enrollment of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), and the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) SystemOne Portal.

These systems reduces enrollment time and provide a longer and better vacation to students. Like for example, FEU-EAC students can select subjects and sections via the internet portal and pay tuition fee via Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) through their mobile phones or by visiting bank branches.

Eventhough some of these systems have several drawbacks and problems, we are still glad that there are Filipino IT specialists, computer scientist, and engineers that has the skills to develop large systems like this one. It just means that our educational system is improving and will keep improving with our new President.
